Dr Gerry Eijkemans joined the Pan American Health Organization HQ/Regional Office of WHO for the Americas, as Head of the area Health Promotion and Social determinants of health in May 2018. The Unit also covers topics related to Urban Health and workers’ health and plays a key role in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. She has worked in international organizations for over 25 years and has provided technical cooperation in different parts of the world. Before returning to PAHO HQ she served as the PAHO/WHO Head of Office in several countries, Mexico, The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands, and Suriname. During her 8 years in Geneva, she served as the global lead of the WHO occupational health program and as the senior advisor at the ILO International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour.
